F.R.A.M. – WADO KARATE-DO – ROMANIA

Wado Ryu, Karate-Do was brought in Romania in 1977 year by Sensei Sabino Frederico Da Luz Tavares - SHODAN, the first place where was practiced this style being the Bacau city. From 1998 year Wado-ryu was practiced also in Bucharest city and, later, in other cities like Craiova, Călăraşi, Constanţa, Sibiu, Drobeta Turnu Severin şi Tulcea

In 1990 was established the Romanian Confederacy of Wado Ryu, Karate-Do. In România, the official contact with the international forum took place in 1990 year when was established the first binding with Sensei Teruo Kono (8 Dan Hanshi) – President of Wado Kai European Federation

In 1991, an official delegation ( Sabino Frederico Da Luz Tavares, Radu Gavrilă şi Sandu Dimofte) represented Romania to Wado Kai European Federation in Amsterdam in order to make the necessary arrangements for affiliation of Romanian organisation to this international organisation.
In 1992, the Wado activity in Romania was divided in two branches, being established also the Wado Ryu Romanian Confederacy whose President is Cătălin-Dan Puicea.

In 1993, also at international level, Wado style was divided in two federations, and F.R.A.M. - Romanian Wado Kai is affiliated to the Federation Wado Kai Europe.

From the affiliation in 1991 until now, the sportsman that practice the Wado style, having Sensei Sabino Frederico Da Luz Tavares (6 Dan) as leader, participated to all European Championships (kumite and kata) and also to World Cup in Japan in 1994 year, obtaining excellent results. In 2006 year Romania obtained the title of Karate Wado Ryu European Champion in Budapest-Hungary, having gained a number of 48 medals, in 2007 in Paris-France, obtained 3th place with 24 medals, in 2008 in Kayl-Luxembourg, obtained 5th place with 26 medals, in 2009 in Edinburgh-Scotland, obtained 6th place with 15 medals, and in 2010 in Bucharest-Romania, obtained 1th place with 46 medals.

In all this years the Wado trainers and sportsman participated also in Romania and abroad to many annual training courses with Masters of Wado Ryu style from all over entire world.

In this moment the style Wado Ryu (Wado - Kai) is practiced at high level and in a genuine style in 26 clubs that are affiliated to Romanian Federation of Martial Arts (FRAM).
